December Civic Association Meeting Recap
Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting this Tuesday - if you missed it, here are the meeting minutes, here's the slide deck, and here is the Zoom recording!
TL;DR:
Don't miss hot cocoa and photos with Santa this Saturday, Dec 14 from 2-4pm at Cottage Grove Park. This event will also include a ribbon cutting for the new playground - photo below!
We're super excited about District C's investment to complete the sidewalks on Kansas St - we're waiting on CenterPoint to complete gas relocation, then comes draining improvements, then sidewalks!
Hempstead Highway project completion date is June 2025 - we've written a letter to TxDOT leaders requesting for them to fix what they broke on Kansas St (sidewalks, drainage, street).
We need families to join us at City Council in Jan to advocate for infrastructure improvements in Cottage Grove! It's a Tuesday afternoon - yep, it's rough for the schedule. Let us know if you are game by emailing cottagegrove77007@gmail.com and we'll include you in the planning.
We're actively engaging with the organization No Higher No Wider and advocating for a green cap over I-10 in our area to reconnect our community. Thanks to all of you who submitted public comments to TxDOT!
Huge thanks to Precinct 4 for taking over Cottage Grove Park maintenance - that means it gets mowed biweekly instead of every three weeks and will looks tons better in the summer.
We're also excited about the prospect of a trail to be provided by Precinct 4 Trailblazers in Cottage Grove Park! The community will be involved in the design. We'll also be planting trees in the park in March, funded by a Union Pacific grant.
